Burgers Parmigiana

Servings: Makes 4 sandwiches
Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef
8 ounces Italian sausage, removed from casings
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
4 Cobblestone Mill Ciabatta Rolls
½ cup marinara sauce
Additional grated Parmesan (optional)
Fresh basil leaves (optional)

Preparation
  1. Preheat broiler.
  2. Combine ground beef, sausage, 1/2 cup cheese, vinegar and Italian seasoning in large bowl.
  3. Shape into four 3/4-inch-thick patties.
  4. Place patties on rack in broiler pan.

  5. Broil 3 to 4 inches from heat source 14 minutes to medium doneness (160°F), turning once.
  6. About 3 minutes before burgers are done, place rolls, cut sides up, in single layer on baking sheet.
  7. Broil 2 minutes or until toasted.
  8. Turn rolls over; continue broiling 1 minute or until crusts are crisp.
  9. Meanwhile heat marinara sauce in microwave or on range-top until hot.
  10. Place burger on each roll bottom.
  11. Top with marinara sauce, additional cheese and basil, if desired.
  12. Close sandwiches.
