- Preheat gas grill to medium heat. Combine ground beef, cheese, onion and bacon in large bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Shape into four 1/2-inch-thick patties.
- Place patties and rolls on grill grid; do not separate rolls. Grill rolls, covered, 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until crusts are crisp. Grill patties, covered, 7 to 8 minutes to medium doneness (160°F), turning occasionally.
- Place lettuce leaf on each roll bottom. Top with burger and tomato slice. Close sandwiches.

Tailgating Tactics: Prepare patties. Wrap individually in plastic wrap and place in zip-top plastic food bag. Refrigerate until ready to transport. Place patties in cooler; grill at tailgating site.
For charcoal grilling, place patties on grid over medium coals. Grill, uncovered, 11 to 13 minutes to medium doneness (160°F), turning occasionally. Grill rolls, covered, 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until crusts are crisp. Serve as directed.
Timesaving Tips: Substitute 1 package (2.8 ounces) ready-to-serve bacon pieces for the cooked bacon slices. Purchase pre-shredded cheese. |
