Bread & Honey Dessert

Ingredients
6 slices Cobblestone Mill French Bread
1/4 cup milk
1 cup honey
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
1 cup whipping cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoons vanilla

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 300°.

  2. Toast bread slices directly on oven rack, turning once, until golden and crisp on both sides, about 15 minutes, remove from oven.
  3. Drizzle milk evenly over both sides of toasted bread slices; let stand until milk is completely absorbed into bread.
  4. Cut slices in half; arrange in single layer in greased 13” x 9” baking dish.
  5. Combine honey and lemon juice in medium saucepan; bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally.
  6. Pour hot honey mixture over bread. Bake at 300° for 25 or 30 minutes or until honey is absorbed into bread. Cool slightly.
  7. Meanwhile, beat whipping cream with sugar and vanilla.
  8. Serve dessert warm topped with whipped cream.
